House Summary:

• A lesser Cairhienin house sworn in vassalage to House Vanderode, House Moendivell has seen its fortunes rise and fall along with its liege-house. Wealthy enough to raise several hundred armsmen from its estates, as well as to finance to sizable residences, one in the ancestral holding of Kerdaen in the foothills of the Dragonwall, the other a respectable maison in Cairhien, they do not rank among the upper tier of Great Lords such as Cordaevell, Ildevwyn or Rhiaghan.

  The first of the house was Theoderid Moendivell, a Lance-Captain in service to then Queen Ailaeve of House Naravinde, who bestowed the ranks and dignities of a lord upon him in exchange for service to the Sun Crown, particular valor on the field of war, and if archaic court gossip is to be credited, in the Queen's boudoir. Shortly thereafter the Moendivells became fixed in allegience to House Vanderode, and they have remained fixed thusly for several centuries.

• The current High Seat of Moendivell is Lord Pelivaen Alberdes, father of three. Through his younger son, Eofrem, he is the grandfather of Lady Saralleine's three children. His elder son and heir, Bertome, is the father of Rolaen and Ellisaene. His last child, a daughter named Malaerine, is affianced to Lord Timosaen Belovinde.

  The Moendivells, being lesser lords, were largely spared the wrath visited upon the Vanderodes when their ambitions cast them down low. In time, as Lady Saralleine was able to gather the tatters of her prestige back into some semblance of respectability, she was deemed a suitable chaperone for the young members of the house for the social seasons in Tar Valon. It is also believed that Lady Ellisaene and Lord Rolaen had secret directions from their grandfather to learn all they could while under Saralleine's roof so that they could further use it to their advantage should Vanderode seem ripe for the picking.
